To give it side spin, which is used mainly to change the angle of the cue ball bounces off the cushion after hitting the object ball. This shot needs more practice as it requires more accuracy and focus to hit the correct on the cue ball to get the effect. Any difference in the amount of strength will have an effect of the spin.
