Stop shot

One of the most useful shots is the stop shot as it causes the cue ball to stop upon impact. Use it when the object ball is near the edge of the pocket and, if it hit normally, the cue ball may follow it into the pocket. That happens to some of us even now after a long time away from the game. Use it also when you wish to set up the cue ball for the next shot. Strike just below the centre, ensuring you have adequate speed on the cue ball to execute the shot.
